Summary

The Analytical Technologies Center (ATC) at St. Jude is seeking an experienced research lab specialist to join the Chemical Biology and Therapeutics department in Memphis, TN. The person in this role will use existing and will develop novel analytical methods to characterize small molecules, and determine their physicochemical and pharmacokinetic profiles in relevant biochemical, cell- and tissue-based assays.  To support scientific advancement across research labs at St. Jude, ATC employs a full assemblage of state-of-the-art instrumentation including FTMS, Q-Tof-MS, AB Sciex triple quad mass specs, several single quads, EI MS, in addition to a NanoFlow UPLC, a variety of HPLC’s and UPLC systems, and an array of detectors.  Reporting directly to the ATC leader, this person will be expected to independently execute in vitro ADME assays, and assists in managing the Center daily operations. Manuscript writing, accurate record keeping, reports, and SOP-writing will also be expected.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's degree in appropriate scientific field is required.

Minimum Experience

  • A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant post-degree work experience, with at least five (5) years at the Sr. Research Tech level, is required with a Bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant post-degree work experience, with at least (5) years at the Sr. Research Tech level, is required with a Master's degree
  • A minimum of four (4) years of relevant work experience including post-doctoral and/or technical staff experience is required with a Ph.D

Required Skills:

  • Broad knowledge of the theory of operations and application of advanced bioanalytical assay methods/platforms is required (i.e., chromatographic, mass spectrometric, etc.).
  • Experience in quantitative analysis of small molecule in biological matrices using LC-MS or LC-MS/MS platform and expertise in mass spectrometric assays to support ADME studies, e.g., detecting analytes and metabolites.
  • Extensive experience in method development and validation.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in working within multidisciplinary teams 
  • Experience in working with pre-clinical models
  • Experience in developing drug formulations
