Summary

The Tsai Laboratory is seeking highly motivated and creative candidates for a Research Technician to develop potentially curative strategies to treat sickle cell disease by CRISPR-Cas gene editing of human hematopoietic stem cells for treatment of sickle cell disease.

 

You will have the opportunity to learn and support new projects such as:

  • Optimizing pre-clinical CRISPR-Cas gene editing strategies for induction of fetal hemoglobin in red blood cell progeny of edited human hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells
  • Developing improved genomic methods to define and measure genome-wide activity of gene editing nucleases
  • Protein engineering of CRISPR-Cas nucleases for precise gene correction

 

In this position, you will gain extensive experience and training in gene editing, protein engineering, and high-throughput genome biology.

Minimum Education

High school diploma/GED required.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, genomics, hematology, or related field preferred.

Minimum Experience

One (1) year experience as a laboratory assistant or the equivalent experience in a similar research environment required.

 

Successful applicants will have excellent communication skills, and a B.S. or equivalent degree in molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, genomics, hematology, or a related area preferred. To succeed in this position, you will have a strong molecular and cell biology background, with an emphasis on molecular cloning and genetic manipulation of mammalian cells. Applicants with experience with human hematopoietic stem cells, genome editing, next-generation sequencing, or automated liquid handling are strongly encouraged to apply.
