As the Industrial Hygiene Technician, you support research and clinical efforts by maintaining equipment essential to creating environments that protect patients and researchers. Working independently, you are relied upon to ensure compliance with state and national health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

In this role, you are responsible for inspecting biological safety cabinets, monitoring HEPA filtration systems, performing respirator fit-testing, managing the oxygen sensor program, maintaining fume hoods, conducting air quality studies and exposure assessments, correcting potential air quality issues and responding to hazardous material spills. When equipment maintenance is needed, you will facilitate and schedule access for vendors to alleviate disruption in research progress and clinical treatment. Minimum Education

  • High School diploma/GED required.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in science or engineering related field is preferred.

Minimum Experience

  • Three (3) years of hospital or research facility experience in Environmental Health and Safety required.
  • Experience in the maintenance and certification of biological safety cabinets is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering related field may be acceptable in lieu of experience requirements.

Other Credentials

  • NSF Accredited Class II Biosafety Cabinet Field Certification is preferred.
