The Sr. Research Technologist in the Diagnostic Imaging Department will work on the production and quality control analysis of known radiopharmaceuticals for Positron Emission Tomography (PET) using micro-scale chemistry methods and state-of-the-art automated synthesis and analytical instrumentation. Duties include radiolabeling with short half-life positron emitting radionuclides, performing multiple routine chemical analyses to verify compliance with radiopharmaceutical quality release criteria, and analytical method development for novel radiopharmaceuticals. The Research Technologist will also assist the principal investigator with the data collection for research projects. The technologist is responsible for the production of PET radiopharmaceuticals to meet strict FDA release criteria and detailed documentation of processes and results, properly conducts specific translational research projects, maintains efficient laboratory operations and performs other duties as assigned or directed in order to meet the goals and objectives of the laboratory and department.
Preferred skills: Background in analytical chemistry is preferred. Experience performing multi-step organic synthesis, interpreting analytical data (NMR, MS, IR, UV), micro-scale reactions, and chromatographic separation methods (HPLC, GC, TLC) is highly desired. Knowledge of documentation for GMP compliance, experience troubleshooting analytical instrumentation (HPLC, GC) and performing routine maintenance on small laboratory equipment is a plus.
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field is required
A minimum of three (3) years total work experience as a SJCRH Research Technologist or three (3) years relevant post-degree experience in a similar research environment is required with a Bachelor's degree.
A minimum of two (2) years total work experience as a SJCRH Research Technologist or two (2) years relevant post-degree experience in a similar research environment is required with a Master's degree.
No experience is required with a PhD in a related field.
